Mental Health Nursing

About

The Department of Mental Health Nursing prepares students to address the complex needs of individuals with psychiatric and mental health conditions. Our faculty emphasizes a holistic approach to mental healthcare, covering topics such as psychopathology, therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and psychosocial rehabilitation. Students develop skills in assessment, counseling, and implementing interventions for patients with various mental health

Mission

To prepare psychiatric-mental health nurses who can deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals across the lifespan experiencing mental health challenges, while promoting mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and advocating for accessible mental healthcare services.

Activities

Conducting counseling sessions and awareness programs on mental health.
Organizing stress management and wellness workshops for students and the community.
Participating in psychiatric ward clinical rotations.
Collaborating with NGOs for mental health advocacy campaigns.

Facilities

The Mental Health Nursing department features a dedicated lab equipped with counseling spaces and mental health models. Students have access to partnered psychiatric hospitals and rehabilitation centers for practical exposure. The department also offers a resource library containing the latest mental health research and therapeutic materials. Additionally, quiet rooms are available for role-playing therapeutic communication and conducting stress management sessions.
